We started this year by listing our self catering flat on Booking.com, Airbnb and then synchronising with VRBO. Slowly, we started to get reviews and more bookings until by summer, we were fully operational and receiving bookings from all 3 websites, each of which have their own pros and cons. There are up front fees, hidden ones, high service charges etc. All accommodation sites take a surprisingly large cut . I decided to have a look at taking bookings directly, to be able to offer my rooms at a lower price to my guests and pay less fees at the same time.
After consulting our local business service, The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub, I was offered a course in website building via Zoom with Digital Peninsula Network, which was excellent. I caught up about 20 years of IT skills whilst our tutors patiently led us through the course. I have now 99% finished this website and I’m really chuffed that it actually seems to work!
I only have the online Stripe Payments and Bank Transfer facilities to add to the booking page and The Conifers will be live!
