Walks around the Local Area

Famous Walks

The Treesmill River Walk (marshes) often muddy 45min

Head out of our gates, turn left and walk about 30ft or 10m. You will see a very overgrown house obscuring the public footpath. Follow the path along the left hand side of the house. This is a beautiful walk alongside a shallow river that is 1-2ft deep (30-60cm) which is very popular with dogs and children as it is very safe. There are only fields and marshes alongside the river with no cars or traffic. The path is often muddy and wet with overhanging branches. It takes about 45 minutes to the end and back (you can continue on road) and is completely flat.

Par Duck Pond – easy -20-30 mins

To get to Par Duck Pond, head out of our gates and walk left to the bend in the road. This is the best place to cross as you can see the traffic in both directions. Once over the road, you can walk around the whole lake. At the opposite end, there is a noticeboard and a path leading to the bunny field, an open common framed by a canal and a small wood. You can let your dogs off here as there are no nearby roads. The woods are sometimes a bit muddy but there is a concrete path around the field.

Par Track

Par Track and the fields around it provide a lovely green space for all to enjoy in the centre of the village. It’s an ideal spot for exercising, whether you’re into jogging, walking, or more intensive workouts. There is a play area for younger children, a skatepark for older ones and football goals and a basketball hoop for everyone to enjoy. The scenic paths surrounding the track are perfect for walking your dog as you can safely let them off to explore, away from the road. The trails around the track connect up with the public footpaths across the village, leading to the beach, train station etc. Why not end your walk with a cuppa and a slice of cake at the community run Par Track Cafe?

Par Beach

Par Sands Beach offers a delightful walking experience with its beautiful long sandy shores and stunning coastal views. Dog friendly 365 days a year, your pooches can explore the dunes whilst you soak up the atmosphere. The Main Car Park has an Artisan Coffee Van and a Hot Pasty / Snack Shop and a in summer, you can hire Watersports equipment. There is also Par Beach Cafe with a play area alongside.

The beach forms part of the South West Coast Path, and connects to Polkerris, a charming fishing hamlet to the East and Spit beach towards the West. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll or a more extended hike, Par Sands Beach has something for everyone.

Getting There. You can walk 1 mile through the village from the Conifers to the dunes, in roughly 22 minutes, or drive to one of the many car parks along the front. There is a free car park next to the play area and Café on the beach road.
